What about living in Battle Creek during the 50's and 60's holds the best memories for you?

We have more of the downtown then. Now, a lot of accounts further out.

Person or people I would like to see again:

Always like to see old friends. Still talk to Norma Brown Galloway and talk to Diane Knowles Woods when I can. Miss other old friends. Miss Scherri Allgood Sturdivant who passed away.
Now I miss Diane Knowles Wood.
Norma Brown and I have a few health issues but we’re hanging in there. See how old we can get. With my families I life spans I’m God’s good graces.

My first Job:

First job was babysitting, then on to waitress at both Early Prior's Coffe Shops (downtown and Main St) and Rowe's Country Kitchen.
Moved onto the NightBeat as waitress and part-time bartender
Had better jobs after that

My story:

I have been married twice and both husbands are deceased.
I have retired due to illness.
My son had attended Franklin Elementary twice. For third grade before moving to Texas, also for almost a year for his 6th grade before we moved to Heidelberg, Germany where 1st husband was stationed by the Army. Germany was one of my favorite places to live, explore and travel plus traveled several other countries in Europe. Would visit my aunt in Lancashire England and stay with her a few days. Have lived in Texas and Missouri also. was a teachers aide in Texas and at the commissary in Germany and Missouri. Worked several different jobs from front office counting tills to meat cutter. Don't know why I came back to Michigan other than family. Once returned to Battle Creek my son graduated Battle Creek Central his senior year. Other high schools were in Germany and Missouri. I worked two jobs until I quit one to take care of my Dad durning his illness before he died 1997.

My classmates would be surprised to learn that:

I used to drive a 2 1/2 ton truck and a forklift

I worked for the government and a commissary as a cashier as a meat, Clark and stocking shelves. In Germany with embassy’s would come in they would come in with trucks.
Took a long time to bring their food up and help them pack it.

The coolest thing I have done or that happened to me since I graduated:

My coolest thing I got to do was live and travel in Europe for a few years. Loved it.

Another time I was running into Mel Gibson on the streets of Chicago making a film

Hobbies and Activities?

Crocheting, crafting, beading, painting.

Favorite type of music or favorite musician:

I listen to different kinds of music like Christian or country now. Still listen to 50s, 60 and 70 music.

My best vacation:

Favorite vacations are to South and North Carolina to see step daughter , grand children and niece and their families. Also the travel and cruise from Germany to England and then another back.. Stayed with a aunt in England a few days.

"Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64"? What is the most important thing you've learned after 64 years?

It all speeds up and the days fly by.

You learn to miss your friends after they’re gone. Sherry, First, and since we’ve lost Diane Knowles. It’s just Norma Brown and I now left from the old group. Norma and I do keep in touch often.
